McCarrum Park Community Natatorium

Community Natatorium:
Site Research
For this project the community infastructure was used to imprint community influeces on the site.  The systems used were:
-Circulation/ Transportation Systems
-Residential Density & Demographic
-Community Zoning (i.e. School Systems, Commercial, Industrial, Residential)
These "Community Pressures" Developed the structure and the lanscaping of the site as if a block of clay to optimize the Interaction with the surrounding community, as well as allowing views in and out of the building or blocking them from neighboring buildings.
Form Derivation:
1 & 2:    Site with the community pressures imprinted upon it.
3 & 4:    Protoform placed on the site.
5 & 6:    Protoform with th community presures influencing and sculpting the form.
7 & 8:    Interior programing and landscaping transformation to allow or block views based on community infastructure.
9 & 10:  Final landscape and form state.
Paper studies
study 1: exterior stuctural shell
studt 2: Interior circulation and level change
Structure & Surface System:
Using sections of steel framing, a double layered system was used to create modular squares in which the double layered skinning system could be built in.

The skinning system was developed as a module which would change thickness for either more or less structur/weight, and also had a space in the middle of the module which would change apature to allow for more or less light in the natatorium.

Through sun studies and environmental studies the areas where the different modules were aggregated where strategically placed as can de seen in the diagram above.
